As far as breakfasts go, for years I kept ordering for my eggs to be fertilised, which was delivered to me after some patient waiting time, but now that egg is presenting itself as sunny side up!

Autumn is in full swing (on its last month) as I enter the last twelve weeks(!) of my pregnancy. In between unpredictable showers, the missus’ requests for shopping trips, and strong winds, JV found the time to finish the deck yesterday.
Today, my husband indulged me in a little DIY indoor photoshoot. We had fun and JV was able to flex his creative shot directing skills. I have been collecting pins for months now for inspiration, but his pose ideas were spot on and turned out more natural. It took us about an hour from start to wrap up, with a few blooper shots in between.
I know, I know, I'm not technically a parent yet, but I have been preparing for parenthood and came across Maren Schmidt's talk at the Childhood Potential Online Montessori Conference about Freedom and Responsibility (it's not a public recording so I cannot link to it, unfortunately).
She said that the most ironic thing with parenting is that, "we are raising adults, not children". It is our ultimate goal as a parent to help a child become an independent, resourceful, responsible, and respectful adult. In her talk, she said, "As they become bigger, as their circle of power grows, we become smaller and smaller. Our parenting job is to help them enlarge their circle of power. When they don't need us, our job is complete." |
